Eye Movement and Desensitization Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR Therapy), is a mind-body treatment that has traditionally been used to treat trauma, but can also be used to treat depression, anxiety, and more.
EMDR therapy helps individuals get past feelings that are difficult to get past. The process involves identifying thoughts, feelings, and body sensations surrounding past events and focusing on new ways that we want to feel about those events. By utilizing talk therapy and bilateral hemisphere stimulation (i.e., eye movements, alternating sounds, tapping, or vibrations) we help the body release the trauma and help our mind move past our history.
